There is definitely demand for Linux Desktop Certification and LinuxCore training over here in Scotland. We have had dropouts from LPI101 training as Linux newcomers find it overwhelming, not understanding that LPIC1 is aimed at Junior System Administrators with a few years hands on experience. Looking forward to these new certification tracks. LPI has decided to address that with a LinuxCore exam. Yes! I got many expressions of interest in a lower level test with the intent of just getting people started. One trainer mentioned that he taught Linux+ then moved students to LPI to ease the transition. I saw no reason to give up the entry path so I would agree that this is good. I have even been asked if LPI would like to partner with others to create a Perl Certification track! I would love to get involved here because it is a natural entry to Level one and should be logicly structured as such. Now all I need to do is get my ducks in a row.
