No, it hasn't been ruled out.  However, until we have more than 2 LPIC-3
exams, it's a moot point :)

(non-exclusive) LDAP coverage is mandatory for at least one of these exams.

Ah.  Well as long as the exact same task is not in both lists on the wiki, it

Did you mean NSS or NIS above?  Or both?

I think that the 'LDAP, auth...' should include PAM and other things.
I think that the 'samba and file/print...' should include NFS and other
things.

It's definitely up for discussion.  Scenario 1 listed above is just a matter
of fact "if there are only two exams available and you need two to get an
LPIC-3 certification...".  That will definitely change once we develop the
other exams.

Luckily we have some time for discussion on this.  The first two exams should
be ready for the end of the year.  By that time, we'll have a more thought
out proposal on the future of the LPIC programme.

For now, it's 'authentication' and 'file/print' exams.
