That's exactly that way it is now.

You guys have read the current recert policy, right?  :-D  The certs don't
'expire'.  Their status is adjusted to indicate its age.  I do like the idea
of appending the year onto the cert, too.

Also, I can't reopen the current policy.  What I am look for here is an
adjunct to the policy for people that want to view their certs in a
professional manner.  Thus the 'professional recertification' policy.

It wouldn't require any exams to be rewritten.  Just a 'resume' of
professional activity (ongoing learning, work experience, mentoring,
community involvement, ...) and a processing fee.
