The build quality of some Apple's laptops is not so great.
I've seen colleagues whose MacBooks have developed cracks,
strange sounds around the palm-rest area, e.t.c.
They stain easily as well, including the black models. I
think the type of laptop bag you have has an effect on the
rate of stain as well.
If it's a ploy to get you to move to the MacBook Pro, it's a
nasty one. Personally, I prefer the MacBook to the MacBook
Pro, but I think they could have built it better - it's
simply too flimsy.

You forgot to mention the searing heat - the damn thing should not a
be called a "laptop" :-)
