It seems logical to me to design an editor which has editing functions which can be changed||expanded||customised through adding modules or scripts written in Perl, thereby neatly getting around the problem of 'you can't please everybody'. For me the main problem with most of the current editors is the fact the perl interpreter is external to them, they rely on using Apple Events or various work arounds (temp docs) to interact with MacPerl. The best in the performance stakes (for me) is MPW, but (for me) is impossible to change||expand||customise, and it's very apparent that Perl is a guest in the house of MPW. so a logical wish list, assuming the premise above would be an editor shell, which can access the LIB & SITE_PERL folders where its modules would reside which could supply syntax colouring, line numbering..... infact ANY of the current features found on third party solutions - I mean c'mon isn't getting to the 'break even point' sort of close to this - I mean Perl is a language created for working obstensively with text - isn't it a logical step to have it's own editor written in Perl?
