Right. I am aware of communities of EAI mail users in India and Thailand,
but not anywhere else. You might expect EAI users in China, but nope,
for reasons I can explain if anyone cares.

Everywhere else people use ASCII mail addresses, even though they are
often writing mail in non-ASCII character sets.

I get plenty of non-ASCII characters in the quote part of mail
addresses from European members of lists, including this one.

More to the point (but still not answering the original question)
I believe that
https://list.mailop.org/private/mailop/2024-February/027576.html
shows someone successfully using an emoji in the
mail address string, in this list last week.

I saw the emoji when reading the list with alpine,
although I was using a phone as a terminal,
so the fonts were better than on some linux terminals.

There were also several list messages last month
with mail addresses with what looked to me like CJK
characters.
