I have both version 2 and version 3, but understand that older software 
doesn't need to be supported forever,  it worked when I bought it a couple 
years ago and I've been holding off putting v3 on my laptop because (like 
others) I like the old version better.  It seemed less resource intense 
(but that may just an illusion).  

Also a free upgrade to v3.0 is just silly.  Programmers have to eat too.   
<rant> it's interesting that people expect free whenever stuff stops 
working.  there are lots of company that end of life products and it's just 
the way it is.  I have a bunch of powerpc software to prove my point </rant>
