I ask because several years ago this list was embroiled in this topic in the context of Ukraine. The discussion was interesting because there were people from various Trotskyist backgrounds who viewed the war as a necessary reaction of Russia to NATO threats. Barry Sheppard wrote an article to that effect that was shared on this list. And there are many MLists who support Ukraine's right to self determination.
