Ymmmmmmm, As I believe, my series 2 is approx 1080 kilos stock... That's not
too bad...
Power to weight ratio is also a legal issue depending on where you live... I
would assume that stuffing a 2 litre turbo into a 1200 coupe would require
tighter regulations as far as engineering goes...

As far as i'm concerned, If I can get away with sticking a motor in my car
that has triple the standard horsepower and potentially 5 or 6 times the
original hp, and I can do it on my budget, then I'm not really concerned
with power to weight ratio.

If I want my power to weight ratio to improve, I remove the passenger seat
and buy my wife a car...

I was merely commenting on what might be a simple (almost bolt-in)
conversion for a beginner...

Nevertheless, the 1600 is great piece of machinery as well... I guess it's a
matter of CHOOSE YOUR WEAPON...

My first car was a bluebird, i learnt all the basics with that car. My
second car was a MINI... Guess which one got to 100 quicker...
The mini also provided me with some useful skills as to how to do donuts on
a 10 cent piece.. :)

the bluebirds are fairly heavy though
so power to weight ratio won't be that great
