Dave,

Others have responded to your questions except for the L20B CR question.

The first 200B had 8.5, the update with the crappo Aus block had the lowest CR (8.2 or 3), the Bluey S1 had 8.8, the S2 had 9.2. Mind you this is ex factory and it was controlled by the piston dish which is hardly rocket science, god know what engines are in most of them by now. Not all L20B's have the U67 head ex factory either, I can't just recall what the other head was called but they had smaller ports and valves. Someone else that knows L20B's specs better than me may be able to help.

regards
Terry

which are the lowest compression L20's ?
why doesn't using a Z20 limit gearbox choice? aren't they the same bolt pattern as an L20 ?
what would be the best bolt up gearbox for what's planned to be a very mean Z series?
will an FJ20DET box bolt up?

Dave,

A U67 and a Z18ET head have exactly the same chamber volume i.e. 45.2cc so the compression ratio would be all but the same (allow small variance due to head gasket thickness, shaves etc) CR of L20B varies from 8.2:1 to 9.2:1 depending on year - Black top S2 Bluebird is the highest.

Terry

guys what compression ratio would you end up with if you put a Z18ET head on an L20B or Z20 bottom end?

is either block stronger? the L20 or the Z20?

could I get enough shaved off the top of the L20 pistons to use the Z18 head?

Dave
