Flat top pistons are stock for L24 in 240Z.  Doesn't take much to
bend a valve sufficently to get no seat seal.  Really does sound to
me as if the valve timing is waaaayyy off.  Modern head gaskets don't
usually require extra sealer, but doesn't hurt if you do.  Even if
the head is warped, wouldn't cause this.

Were you in Melbourne (thought I read that) ?? depending on where I
might be able to have a look.
