Errol,

Compression check as follows: 
-All spark plugs out
-Compression tester into the plug socket we want to test. Just gets 
pushed in.. its got rubber on the end so you have to push pretty hard to 
get it to seal.
-Get someone in the car to WOT and then crank until the compression 
tester doesn't go up anymore.

Am I doing something wrong?
