Apart from the bog, all the other rust proofing methods you have used are OK. The Selleys product, does it need to have a follow up coating after neutralizing the rust? If its phosphoric acid based it will need covering. Try Penetrol from your better paint supplier it does kill rust and then skins over for a permanent fix, unless you miss a bit.
Fish oil is good and its OK to be running out for ages. But fish oil isn't permanent, you need to keep adding it each couple of years. Bog is only temporary, you will soon have the rust returning through the bog and around the edges of it. New metal, migged or spot welded in, is the best way to repair panel rust where possible. To slow the rust in doors, make sure the rubbers on the outside of the window, across the top of the door sill are fresh and scraping water off the window. Old, dry, shrunken rubbers just allow water to pour down onto the bottom of the door sill. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paul Stanley" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "OZDAT Mailing list" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Saturday, 22 June 2002 19:11 PM Subject: Rust in hard to get places > I am fixing up a Datto and it has a bit of rust in the doors which I cut out > and griinded and sanded and fibreglassed up and metal bogged and bogged etc > etc. On the inside of the doors I used Sellys Rust Fix which makes a shiney > black coating.
