I'd guess locally, through word of mouth, or your local Buy and Sell or CL list. I can't imagine anyone willing to travel too far to buy a $1000 car, especially if the condition is only so-so, as to whether or not the car can be driven home.
For me, a 45 minute drive is about as far as I'll go to look at a car. Further than that, if it's as good as they often say it is, they can bring it to me, or meet me halfway. I've spent too much time in the past, traveling to look at what others have told me was mint, only to get their and find they were trying to unload their junk.
