Have to say I've had good luck with the junkyard LS1 I bought. Total
investment for the 35K mile engine, trans, harness and PCM was $3500. With
just a mild cam it is 370rwhp and 350rwtq. Might do heads one day but still
need to learn to drive it as is first in my 2700# FC.

Frightening in the same way the Sub was the first time I drove it.. like a
caged animal. As I am sure you know from Elvis, it's just the next level
up, and it's a handful to begin with. Plus it's not fully sorted out so
it's interesting to drive to say the least.

Heh, I'll have you know I hit the revlimiter at 5500 TWICE today. :)

I saw a really nice 572 at the parts counter the other day....700+hp circle
track motor, PERFECT for a Miata. ;)

Wally, good to hear your project is up and running. What part of it is
frightening, though? You're not revving it past 5k are you ;-)
and for news of another V8, those of you who made it to the Laguna Seca
event may have seen Elvis hit the trailer early. Turns out the nicely
CNC'd heads were CNC'd a little too far, leaving an aluminum foil
thickness intake port wall. After a few sessions the coolant blew through
into the port, day over. fortunately, the suppliers of the heads are
 replacing them for us.
At this point, I think springing for a GMP crate motor would have been the
 way to go, not used.

p.s. What the hell guys.. I go and build a V8 RX7 and all of the sudden
the list goes to political/environmental/survivalist hell in a
handbasket?? Jez, I can't leave you folks alone for a minute... FWIW,
the car is running well and frightens me, if any of you care about CAR
 shit anymore... ;)
