I just looked at an on-line 2000 diagram and it too has the coils powered
via the engine fuse so I suspect that nothing has changed since day 1.

According to the diagram they are powered by a blue wire from the ign
switch, but no fuse. This diagram might be wacky, though, as it has
nothing about the SRS.
