Yes I think there is a great deal of cross thatching here with Jung's shadow concept, which also touches on the concept of overcoming the self to achieve higher levels as influenced by Nietzsche. Either way, I see the underlying concept as confrontation of inner being, recognition and reconstruction. Personally I think shadow is all that is left behind from the all and everything we are consciously, those parts of our being that we have yet to recognize, whether inferior traits or unknown talents. There is good and bad awaiting in the shadow should one decide to explore. I've never been one to toss around names and adopt others concepts because I have this innate sense of these things and have used other analogies to portray them. However, after lung collapse and laying in a coma several years ago I seem to have lost a great deal of capacity to recall and present things the way I want to. I have my better days which is evidenced by some of my posts while others seem to leave me in a lurch groping for what I know I know. When I think of the shadow concept I am reminded of what I would term as transference, the denial of ones own situation that transfers onto others. As Jung plays it out, denial in shadow manifests itself outwardly repetitively. With transference, denial leads to outward blame. Combination of the two means outward manifestation and blame. Ultimately we as individuals, must out of a moral sense, make effort to overcome the self, examine our inner being, confront, recognize and reconstruct in order to make the part viable to the whole.
