A rejection of any other as a point of truth or mentor is a product of
many things, primarily being that since I was emancipated rather young
and abruptly, I have only had myself to rely on for most of my life.
It is not that I blame those inhabiting my formative years so much --
well, I do to a degree -- but the point is that having escaped a
lengthy childhood around such dysfunctional creatures, I am probably
more my own person today than most people who have grown up surrounded
by family.
