I think it's great if you are lucky not to live in a war zone, have food, shelter, clothing, warmth, health, money- i.e. Fate has been kind.//Some cultures are more comfortable with suicide- Romans and Japanese, suicide bombers.// Frankly, seeing my mother's final days was an eye-opener about how hospitals and nursing homes deal with the elderly. It's brutal. That effing handsome doctor and his two shots of morphine to close mother down- her bed sores- her desire for a decent cup of coffee and a cigarette- the screwed up medical procedures that had begun her final drama- the money paid out to these jerks and the government- it's sickening.//Other cultures are kinder to seniors- consider them wise and rever them. Am thinking of the old Eskimo woman who offered herself to the bear to feed her tribe.
