Who was it that said "revenge is mine"? I think defining revenge is a bit dicey. Is it revengeful to sentence a criminal to a jail term for his actions? Is it revengeful to protect oneself when being struck? Is it revengeful to react when being accused of something that one doesn't feel guilty of? Whether the action is "perceived" to be wrong or not, it is human nature to protect oneself when they feel threatened or under attack.
