The self-made person is a myth- that's my opinion. First of all, it's
a physical impossibility. Beyond that, you are an historical entity,
etc.//I got better at praying to God after I dearly loved a dog and
could truthfully confide in him (the dog- Hobbes- named after the
philosopher, not the cartoon.) Hobbes was such a great listener-
plucking a word out of a paragraph- gazing into my eyes with such
tender understanding, etc. Anyway, I began to think of God the same
way though we still do battle and then I have to apologize. Another
thought was that poem- "The Hound of Heaven"by Francis Thompson- and I
could see that God had been chasing after me all along.
