That's interesting Pat, I always wondered why I always hear references to Hermes Tris-megistus and the nine doctrines, Melchizedek and Kabbala yet so little of the Zohar, 3rd Enoch, Ibis, Metatron, etc. I think the heritage crossed paths many times between the Semites and Egyptians. Has anyone placed the origins to specific tribes yet? Or found good indications of pre-historic origins? Interesting things were also happening in S. America and Asia, perhaps a little less known. Not presuming you know, but you two are obviously scholars and it would be nice to get your opinions.

Interesting that the apparition that you describe here and I believe
in another thread uses the name Azrael. The translation to this name is
literally the one who God helps.
Actually, I'd say it's "The Helper of God", i.e., the other way
around. But, yes. I have mentioned him before.

In Kabalistic lore this is the name
of the angel of death or Malak al-Maut in Islam. Though the name
Azrael is not referenced in the Koran it is the same character.

Again, correct. "Izra'il" is mentioned in hadith but not the Qur'an.
But, yes, it was the Angel of Death. But the whole story, if
disclosed, could reveal enough details to potentially add shame to an
old couple (the parents of the person who posed the threat), so, for
their sake, I won't divulge too much...just in case either of them
have access to the internet and may stumble across it (although they
would be quite old now, it's still possible that one or both are
alive). I wouldn't like to think that I caused them more grief than
he did already. And, as I DID say, he is no longer alive.

BTW, I studied kabbalah (the REAL stuff, not the Madonna-esque wearing
a red-string and think you're an expert stuff) for several years.
I've read the Zohar twice and have developed an entire way to
interpret a horoscope based on the system of letter-to-planet/sign
attributes laid down in the Sefer Yetzirah (which MAY be 'the scroll
of Abraham' alluded to in the Qur'an) with pretty amazing results.
I'd also strongly recommend 'The Bahir' as a book worth reading and re-
reading.

Hi everybody!
Pat, so you have had this experience of being protected, I have had
this experience too, but mine was real:
So was mine...real, that is. I've named the entity in my response to
Gabby. I've only seen him once, but, I expect to see him again; just,
hopefully, not for a few years. ;-)
One day I was walking on this
footpath, when two or three young people jumped out of a car, one of
them said we are going to bash you, I was scared but kept walking on
as if I had not heard him, he repeated his threat and was about to
charge me when a large strong man came to my rescue and took my place,
and staring in this young chap face he said; you mean to bash me and
who is going to do the bashing!? hmmm!
Suddenly these youths realised that they were no mach with this man
and jumped in the car and off they went.

I personally agree with your description of God, except for the
phrase, "he is the mind which destroys it'', because in my belief God
is part of the whole cosmos and therefore God will never want to
destroy himself.
SP,
You that dreams about going around in the universe, and in your dreams
you have to be part of the cosmos and you want to know if there is a
way that links everything together, I am wondering why you do not go
along with the idea expressed in this thread?
My regards

natural to to look to our experiences to help support our beliefs and
when I look to my own I can see times when there was serious doubt
about the existance of any God. I may have scraped the whole notion

are many 'reasons' not to believe but the reasons to believe far out
weigh them for me.
I agree. In fact, if it weren't for one particularly strange
experience, I might still be in doubt. But it's those 'rare' events
that don't happen to most people that, when they DO happen to one of
us, is absolutely convincing. In my own case, I was confronted with
an entity that, for most of us, would remain 'unseen'. But it was
given a visible form and served to protect me against a potential
threat to my life. The individual who posed that threat has been dead
for some 14 years, now; but, I am still here. So, the apparition
worked!!

I think Slip was saying that his personal wealth was gained through
self discovery and that he really wasn't speaking of material wealth.
Unless I read his heart incorrectly.

Really dude, stop whatever you are doing, get a grip, we don't have

The universe is just there, accept it.
You want a God because of all your own personal inadequacies which you
want to attribute to something "out there".
There is nothing out there except other planets, stars and other

Take control of yourself and your world because that is all you have,
from birth to death.
Stop trying to comprehend the "HIM" when there is no him.
There is only you and the 24 hour period of time you have to spend

Stop wasting your days worrying about anything beyond your own
personal space.
I was born in abject poverty and the day I discovered "ME", was the
day I realized my richness. There is nothing out there that is more

I am happy to say that I am wealthy today because I put stock into my
person and not into some fantasy deity who is all knowing and a

10% of my earnings to which actually goes to the purveyors of such
dead meat.
Keep falling for the bullshit and that is what you are going to wind
