Complaining obviously does no good, they ran the ship aground years ago by driving sellers away getting greedy instead of riding what they had and continuing to make plenty of money. While they continue to raise their prices processing gets cheaper, storage gets cheaper, and IT personnel rate reductions continue, so the model they had would have been making more money with technology and society corrections changes and they wouldn't of needed to change anything. Now they continue to try to get back the increasing lower revenue by sticking it to the sellers. It doesn't take a PHD to figure out the less sellers you have the less buyers you will have. I'm sure a buyer fee will be coming down the road as well, why not stick it to them as well.
I spent over ten grand on ebay fees and paypal fees last year, I am starting to expand my horizons and ultimately hope to get off altogether as well. I have held fast to my shipping rates for quite sometime, but with the USPS rate increases and now this fine display of business sense, I too will have to increase across the board. ----- Original Message ----- From: Steve <mailto:[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Thursday, March 31, 2011 11:01 PM Subject: Re: [MOPO] eBay's new fee structure Many sellers do not make a profit on the items they sell so they overcharge on shipping. I see a lot of this with paperback and used hardcover books, some movie posters, used machinery and furniture, clothing and DVDs. I feel it's criminally insane to charge a fee on postage. Might result in the seller charging an even higher shipping fee. Happens with the phone and cable companies. As soon as they are hit with additional fees they pass them on to the consumer. _____ From: channinglylethomson <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Thu, March 31, 2011 10:52:43 PM Subject: Re: [MOPO] eBay's new fee structure Having had a lot of experience on EBAY, I would imagine their attempt to get everyone to do FREE SHIPPING proved to be a failure so their solution was to just go ahead and charge a final value fee on everything. It is true that they will be charging a fee on postage.
