This is somewhat but not completely off topic ..I’ll dub it postal travails
..for the first time I ordered an item from aliexpress ( part of Alibaba)
it was a ceiling exhaust fan ..price was $35 cheaper than in the US..the
item is about the size of a small toaster oven ..usps tracking was provided
...i was away from home the day it delivered ..notification said left in or
in front of mailbox ..got home no parcel ..now this would not fit in a
standard mailbox and I can’t believe the postal carrier would have left it
next to the mailbox cause that would be virtually on the road but maybe
they did and somebody took it ..( Doesn’t happen to often in my area
)..went to post office the following day showed the employee the tracking
number and I said I can’t believe you would have left this next to the
mailbox..he said we don’t do that ( I actually saw them do it once) he said
let me check in the back ..came back and said it was delivered to a
different address the location of which he was not allowed to tell me..he
said this happens all the time …wonderful confidence booster..immediately
tried contacting Ali express ..could not find a working e mail ..was able
to via PayPal and 2 hours later my PayPal account was refunded ..so I was
prepared to fault the post office but I have to assume now the address on
the parcel was incorrect..interestingly the postal employee said the item
was placed in the mailbox ..would have to be one hell of a mailbox or the
wrong item was sent
