     Peter, this is not a too simplistic effort on
your part.  I still find this search for distinctions
helpful, and yet, on-going.  What is quality?  This is
a question that will have distinct answers, and the
pursuit of these answers in a discussion group is
good.  We are then partaking in an intellectual
exercise, and using the social rituals of
communication via internet (thus partaking in a group
discussion), and intellectual patterns will occur. 
Intellectual patterns are aspects of quality.  I'm
wondering what people want from the
intellectual-social distinction.  Yet, this
distinction will need to be an intellectual pattern,
and the social patterns will need to partake to help
stimulate these intellectual patterns; but the
distinction, if discussed intellectually (thus a
knowing of a distinction is the desire), then we can
only use half of the patterns to define and make
distinct.  The whole patterns under discussion are the
intellectual-social patterns.  Half of them would be
the intellectual patterns.  If we want a clear
distinction between the two, but can only rely upon
half of these patterns (the intellectual ones) to make
this distinction, then we will be pointing at the moon
for the second half of the patterns (the social ones).
 The distinction will take some intellectual patterns
and some pointing at the moon, both of these will need
to be exercised to get the most direct meaning/value
of their distinction.
    So, again, what is quality?  Intellectual patterns
are an aspect of quality.  Is quality fully static? 
No.  Is dynamic quality embedded in each of the
levels?  Yes.  Therefore intellectual patterns will be
defined, but not fully defined and creativity and
freedom will not be lost.
