Contradiction: mind and matter is the result of Pirsig's > beautiful secondary split in the MoQ. > I think this is the platypus Bo is referring to. MOQ having a secondary split into mind and matter? Who says so and have I declared that a platypus? Right now I'm a bit confused. > No answer from Steve yet. SA seems to have been irritated like hearing > someone shouting 'platypus' but he can't see it. OK must be Steve, but still I cant' remember it. SA becoming irritated sounds more familiar ;-) > Just to play devil's advocate and as a rival solution to Bo's: perhaps > Pirsig's primary split of reality should have been into Dynamic > Quality and SOM!! The first proto-proto moq was in fact DQ/SOM!!!. Pre-intellectual Quality (DQI was followed by Intellectual Quality and the latter is the SUBJECT aware of OBJECTS. Thus this is no rival to the SOL interpretation but smack on.The final MOQ only postulates that there are 3 static levels before the intellectual, and had Pirsig stuck to his initial insight the MOQ would have been revolution, as it is ...alas.
