> I am the walrus, koo koo ka choo... give me a break!
Micah,
While agreeing, to some extent, about your comments about the lyrics in
“Imagine” and Lennon’s hypocrisy about having no possessions, isn’t the point
about a track such as “I Am The Walrus” is that it’s psychedelic poetry (set to
music)? It’s not meant to make much “literal” sense (sober or otherwise) but,
rather, designed so that the intellect can play with the imagery that it
induces. It can also be considered as a musical koan.
Led Zeppelin is worth a “spin” every so often but nothing in their catalogue
approaches the fun that can be had with the Beatles psychedelic musical trips
(such as “It’s Only a Northern Song”, “Carnival of Light” and “Being for the
Benefit of Mr Kite!”). I consider such tracks timeless and, in the right
“setting”, as Dynamic as a static set of musical patterns can get.
