SA: In your previous comment above, you said that the labeling of dq as a taboo is a fallacy. But now your saying as follows:
Ron: > ...perhaps a slight > alteration > Of conceptual understanding of the function that > DQ/SQ view can provide > For better clarity of ordinary terms. SA: What slight alteration? Mine, yours, or ours in the forum open for general discussion? Ron: Lets start over SA, I find this is beginning to slip away. "The labeling of DQ is a taboo" is a fallacy, and I do Stand by that statement. I had said: "Dynamic Quality is meant to operate As an abstract descriptor." It's the distinguishing of experience which DQ/SQ (and S/O for that matter) performs in the first split of understanding and explanation of experience In language and thus conceptually. Pirsig uses DQ/SQ as the first division of experience in the same way eastern languages use passive/active as their first split. When we use the word Quality in a sentence, in it's Abstract form, the word Dynamic becomes redundant but descriptive because the abstract form Of Quality is dynamic. But when we term static with Quality we get the concrete form of Quality. S/O, DQ/SQ, abstract/concrete are all first divisions of experience when we talk about it. When we put experience to words we use the grammar of our language for logical sense in meaning. A noun in our language is either Concrete or abstract or sometimes both depending upon the word and it's meaning. So DQ/SQ and S/O is the same split in meaning but understood conceptually in different ways. Consequently when we intellectualize, we impose or project this grammatically Descriptive split on conceptual reality giving the illusion that it exists In experience itself, but, it does not. It only exists intellectually in the rules of constructing a Comprehensible statement about experience in language. ________________________________________________________________________ ____________ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo!
