Here's a way I've been thinking about intellectual patterns. It seems kin
to what Chris referred to as "conflicts".
This isn't the sum total of what these patterns do, but it something I see
these patterns doing. Organic patterns are dealing with inorganic patterns,
social with organic and intellectual with social. Art is dealing with
intellectual patterns. By dealing I'm referring to a communication that is
happening from organic to inorganic patterns, etc... thus, intellectual to
social and art to intellectual. This dealt communication is dynamic and one of
change. The change is happening and on-going. The world is change. Therefore
as the intellect/knowledge is changing, knowledge deals with social patterns in
order for this change to occur. The social level is a hurdle so to speak that
knowledge must jump/hurdle to establish or maintain its' change. Social
patterns don't change very well, as well as patterns of knowledge. Knowledge
patterns can learn quicker, change faster than social patterns. Art has to
deal with knowledge. Art can change so
quickly that the same painting, same literary work can change in understanding
if ones knowledge changes. For any art to change, art deals with the
established patterns of knowledge and therefore has to try to change knowledge
patterns for the art to be able to establish a change.
Change is occurring, and this happens without our say. And as the
changes occur, with art, I would maintain how a wild flower bloom can be an
art, thus, this taken up as art, this new and beautiful event stimulating not
just the senses, not just some flowers blooming and purely an organic event,
but the art of these wild flowers growing, where they grow (some over there,
some there, some here, etc...), their colors, the bees, or rain falling on
them, this artful experience has to deal with knowledge patterns if knowledge
is to understand the art of wild flowers.

Art of wild flowers... might take knowledge some time to understand this art...
contemplating.
