In a free society, the moral system reflects the values of individuals within a given social group. Religion, ethnicity, and family heritage affect these values, as we discovered during the desegregation programs of Johnson's Great Society and are observing today as our population becomes more Hispanic. [Arlo] Am I to assume now you see NO danger or threat to individual liberty or the precious proprietary self from "our population becoming more Hispanic"? If not, then what exactly are "we observing" today "as our population becomes more Hispanic"? Something good? Something bad? Or just a meaningless insignificant change? Praytell.... [Ham] That our population is rapidly becoming Hispanic is a matter of fact, not hypocrisy or homophobic thinking. [Arlo] So you are indifferent to it? See it as no problem?... [Ham] This poses problems for the values that are indigenous to American culture. [Arlo] What values are "indignious to American culture"? [Ham] It affects our language, for one thing. [Arlo] 95% of the rest of the world is bilingual, and many of those are trilingual. How is "our language" effected? [Ham] Already we see traffic signs, telephone books, and instruction manuals printed in two languages. [Arlo] So? What effect does that have on YOU? Again, in most German areas the norm is 3 or 4 languages on traffic signs. What exactly should I be afraid of here? [Ham] And, because we've been negligent in defending our borders, illegal immigrants are demanding -- and getting -- citizen benefits they have no right to expect. In California a serial murderer is sueing the government for a prison sentence, although his illegal status doesn't even grant him the right to a U.S.trial. Why do we bend the law to favor non-citizens? Because Multiculturalism is touted as the "new morality" of America. [Arlo] Ye gads, this is verbatim Limbaugh monologue! This perennial "fear the immigrant hordes" is just ridiculous. Yes, we need better immigration policies and control. Yes, we should handle illegal immigration firmer. But this is not "multiculturalism". Multiculturalism respects (as Ron recently pointed out) the mutual admiration and respect for multiple cultural representations in one geographic or particular community. Multiculturalism says if you happen to get a neighbor who is of Mexican descent, and his customs are different than yours, then you both have to mutually respect each other, and not only that, it goes on to say that you both could find a tremendous learning opportunity from getting to know each other's cultural foundations. [Ham] I don't want to see my children and future generations of our proud nation having to speak a foreign language... [Arlo] My ancestors all spoke German, think they'd be bothered that I speak primarily English today? And you know what, Ham, I sincerely pray that your children and future generations not only have to speak a "foreign" language, but have to speak three or four. Maybe they'll escape the ridiculous bigotry you instill in them. [Ham] attending daily prayer rituals... [Arlo] Well I am with you on this one. God damn Christians and their prayer rituals. Out with them all. [Ham] wearing veils... [Arlo] Oh dear god.... I can't even stomach a reply to this stupidity. You know what, I hope some precious little white future generation Ham falls in love with and marries a Persian. But then again, maybe his family would be appalled that one day one of their descendants would be seen wearing a NASCAR ballcap. [Ham] or spending their hard-won earnings to support those who demand that WE change our laws, yet haven't respected our sovereignty enough to come here legally. [Arlo] Yeah, yeah. Change immigration. Make it better. I get it. I agree with it. Come here legally. All for it. But let's drop the moronic fear, eh? [Ham] It may not be "the end of liberty and the enslavement of mankind", but is will surely "lead to the destruction of America" as we know it. [Arlo] So speaking multiple languages, having traffic signs in two languages... this is really all you've given me on how "our population becoming Hispanic" will "lead to the destruction of America".
