Andre,
In Bodvars eyes, MoQ IS reality. Therefore he will place that comment
in "the tentacles of SOM" where that question is of the mind/matter
assumption of reality/thoughts.
His arguement is that since experience IS reality including abstract experience
it follows that MoQ is reality. But this makes all thoughts reality and this
type
of inquirey meaningless because these questions spring from an som
perspective. He says what we are really doing is explaining it in terms
of an SOL a subject object logic.

In a way he's correct. Philosohically. But this lends little to physics
which has evolved past this. SOL pretty much states what pirsig does
in so many words, Bo is seduced by the trap of "solving by redefining".
It may make Pirsigs ideas clearer to some if it was better written and described
and better researched, it has that potentional. But I think most of us already
know this but understand it in different terms.
I've been trying to work with him on this but he simply will not budge
on some of the particulars like the intellectual level and the useful
distinction
of immediate expereince and reflective experience used in terms of
prediction and accuracy.

Subject: Re: [MD] The Quality/MOQ dichotomy

Bodvar to Andre and dmb:

'...there is a DQ/SQ split INSIDE the MOQ, but not another greater chasm
between Quality and the MOQ.

Andre:
Hi Bodvar. Thanks for the compliment but as stated to dmb...I am tredding on
untrodden ground (for me). Something went 'iggly' in my stomach region when
I read your above 'INSIDE the MOQ'. So, at the risk of being thrown off the
lofty heights and down into the ravine I must ask the question: Are we not
making the same mistake (with DQ) as Plato made with Arete? As dmb says to
Krimel:
In ZAMM he says, "Plato HADN'T tried to destroy ARETE. He had ENCAPSULATED
it; made a permanent , fixed Idea out of it; had CONVERTED it to a rigid ,
immobile Immortal Truth. He made ARETE THE Good, the highest form, the
highest Idea of all. (Thank YOU dmb!)

To wit: by placing DQ/SQ BOTH INSIDE the MoQ are we not thereby
inadvertently encapsulating the 'undifferentiate aesthetic continuum' (DQ)?
Thus killing the MoQ? and reducing the whole lot to, in your words Q-SOM??

Curious to say the least.
Regards
Andre
