Well I don't know how "consistent" the selecting is... it seems pretty
haphazard when you stand back and look at it with a bit of a critical eye.
At least it does to me. And I wouldn't call the everything the totality of
my self, I'd say rather my self arises in the context of the everything I
experience. It's not a real subtle or interesting point. I'd say it's
pretty much obvious. Your basic subject/object outlook. Which is basically
what we're discussing when we're discussing "self". It's the "S" in "SOM"

I think the main point is in taking the "M" out of the "SO". Subject/Object
personhood/otherhood is not the metaphysical basis of reality, it's just a
real cool intellectual toy that happens to work great. As long as you keep
in mind it's limitations when describing ultimate reality you shouldn't be
embarrassed by it.

I guess to be logically consistent, I'd have to say "our pain" is a choice
too.

"dude" when I use it is an informal term of comradely wonder, as in, "Dude,
ain't the cosmos bitchin?"

Cheers, hope you had a good weekend John.

Dude. Once again your hopes come true.
