First Dave, you have it backwards. DQ is not what gets you off the stove. That would be SQ. Our response to pain; damage to our tissue; is reflexive. Our responce is similar in many respects to the response of any vertebrate.

To further DMB's empirical/hostorical distinction, I would say that getting off a hot stove is empirically dynamic in that it is preconceptual, but it is static from the historical perspective as we recognize the biological pattern of reflexive pain response.
