Platt, A excellent statement, this is the origin of my stance on the global warming controversy.. Science is bias and always has been but, it has the provision for change. My arguement was and is, erring on the side of caution seems a wiser move than not. That generality is going to be filled with both good and bad, you highlight the bad. I think it has merit and looking at all the factors and weighing them is wiser than simply siding with a particular point of view. The question is does the bad side of environmentalism out weigh the good side of environmentalism? I do'nt have the all the info so I can't make a definate accurate judgement, but I agree, it's one this country needs to address and figure out before we start throwing billions of dollar at it. I agree with that gripe.

There is no such thing as settled scientific theory. The MOQ states it perfectly: "But scientific truth has always contained an overwhelming difference from theological truth: it is provisional. Science always contains an eraser, a mechanism whereby new Dynamic insight could wipe out old static patterns without destroying science itself. Thus science, unlike orthodox theology, has been capable of continuous, evolutionary growth." (Lila, 17) Science may be SOM with all of SOM's faults. But its built in ability to respond to DQ, like capitalism, is its saving grace and reason for its evolutionary success.
