Ron,

It seems to me, what intellect values most of all is objectivity. Isn't
that the scientific dream? The illusory pursuit of what is true beyond my
pre-conceived ideas?

Another way of saying it is that what knowing values most, is more knowing.
We build intellectual frameworks of understanding that we might understand
and encapsulate more - an infinite process of analogy, metaphor and
interpretation.

Which is why I believe the 4th level should not be confusingly termed a
"level" as it has no definable upper bounds.

But this process should be understood to include more than rationality - we
also encapsulate and metaphorize with music, painting, dreaming and all
kinds of artistic and mythic expression, which is why the 4th level should
not be termed simply "intellectual".
