The purpose of words is to form and cement relationship and understanding.
My take on an esoteric use of words is that it leaves one in a "one up"
position. It's to cement a superior relationship, like a teacher lording it
over a bunch of students. They wouldn't need an "expert" if plain
understanding was so easily communicated, right?

But to answer your direct question, yeah, I value my relationship with Arlo
the evil acerdemic more than I care about winning any particular argument.
But since Platt's not around anymore, I figure he needs a goad into
actually thinking as opposed to merely pontificating. :-)

A dirty job... but somebody's gotta do it.
