Francisco Albano asked March 3rd 2014:

So, is moq_discuss now open to commenting on social values and systems in the
light of MOQ, DQ-SQ? What can be said about feudalism, capitalism, socialism?
Not to mention human rights, religion and religious institutions?

I'd like to know how Pirsigians are putting MOQ into practice, making it
relevant to life. What is its relevance to personal renewal/remolding and
social transformation towards high quality living in this era of capitalist
globalization?

Ant McWatt comments:

Good question Paco!

I think any organization seeking to further social rights needs to start with
an (intellectually based) "values Statement". The MOQ is one of the best
intellectual frameworks, if not the best at the moment, to do this as it
considers the values of openness, honesty, justice and truth (for instance) as
having equal ontological status as anything else in the universe.  Without such
a values statement in place, an organization can quickly
lose sight of the highest moral principles and lose its way (as we have seen
with many global financial organizations in the last three decades and
especially with the recent sub-prime mortgages scandal).

Moreover, by having Dynamic Quality as the centre (or "lynchpin" if you like)
of the MOQ, there is always the moral imperative to do the "right thing" even
if a new situation arises where previous static intellectual values are
inadequate as a guide.

Finally, like you, I'd also be fascinated to hear how other Pirsigians have
been putting the MOQ into practice!

Very best wishes,

Anthony
