School____________________________Teacher_______________ Directions: Choose a text at the student’s instructional level. (Previously-read silently) The text should be a narrative text of approximately 100 words. A Rigby text can be used for this purpose. (Conduct the Fluency Test with the Rigby) It is NOT necessary to time the reading. Fluency rating can be taken during guided reading. Reading should be at a reasonable pace (like talking). Document the child’s behavior on the Fluency Rating Recording Form.
