The decoder in LAME is based on mpg123, but with a few bug fixes
(mostly related to treatment of the scfsi flags).

I dont know how serious these bugs are.  
LAME makes heavy use of scfsi so it might trigger some
bugs.  The FhG encoder never uses scfsi (at 128kbs).
