Sorry, but I don't want MLO "looking" a particular way just because a Microsoft product looks that way. To me the Microsoft way of doing it is what looks "goofy."
As for the concept of *Projects %complete, In Progress-status, be based solely on the subtasks (read-only on the project, essentially). *You can do that easily in MLO. Just slide the effort bar on the Project task all the way to min.
