No that is not how the GVPio works. There IS a gvpser.device,  and  no
new  serial  device is written. Simply set all your serial software to
use gvpser.device, Unit 0 or 1 depending on where the lead is  plugged
in, set the baud rate to 115200, 230400 or whatever your modem will go
up to and then you will have it working properly. The redirection
utility is quite unnecessary

Use Scout, SystemInspector, Xoper or similar and you will see that
gvpser.device is installed.

Oh hang on--one more thing: Get GVPioPatch from Aminet to set 8 bit buffer.

While you're there get Logimouse. If you are not using your other
GVP serial port for anything else, you may as well avail yourself of
cheap PC serial mice. You still need an Amiga mouse to access the early
startup screen, though.
