No they are not. One of the serial mouse driver's docs makes that
point, and says it is for A1200 only.

It definitely makes a difference what mouse you are using, and which
of the two standards, Mouse Systems ort Microsoft it follows.
Naturally Microsoft mice are worse for everything.
Logitech is probably the closest you can get to working universally.
