This line must be inaccurate or misleading. If it just spins and spins how do you know the wireless doesn't work? It must have stopped spinning at some point and installed Mandriva. Right? Wireless stuff can be a problem. The problem is simply that the manufacturers don't create drivers for linux. You can try Ndiswrapper as an alternative. If you've been using Windows for awhile drivers were a problem for windows hardware also. They have whole websites just to help users find drivers. Although I haven't had problems with XP I did have problems with hardware with earlier versions of windows even though the docs said it was supposed to work. You did check the different hardware compatability lists before you installed, right? > doesn't work .. and haven't even taken the time to look at other stuff > .. but boy you can type on it <G> l Believe it or not, lots of us do way more than type using linux. Some of us do everything we used to do with Windows using linux. > > So when you flatulant wind bags sit back and laugh about window .. > remember .. the worlds business is still being done on it .. not on > Linux. Thanks for that news. I can still laugh because I can take care of the business I have to using linux without paying for Windows. I really could care less what some company is using to get their work done. My job doesn't use Windows either. They use Macs. > > Don't get me wrong .. i would love to use linux but if it doesn;t work > on my laptop/workstation then there is really no reason to keep it on > the disk .. just taking up room like a bad relative Well you could try another distro of linux. I have tried a number of distros. Some are better than others at recognizing my hardware but linux does work for lots of people worldwide.
