I've been out for 6 weeks a couple of times, and have been on a "weekend warrior" type tour for the past year. So, while 2 1/2 months will be a relatively long tour for me... I ain't skeered. > As to suggestions... if > you are traveling constantly (i.e. every day or every week) you want to keep > your load as light as possible and, if you are flying, you want to make it > as easy to get through security as possible. We'll be moving everyday, with a few days off here and there. Traveling by tour bus, might be flying to the beginning and from the end, but don't know for sure yet. > Therefore, unless you have a > need to run both at the same time I wouldn't call it a "need" but once the laptop is setup to do it's actual job, I'd rather not disturb it. True, I've considered that option, but the company laptops are leased (ugh.) and may eventually be used by another person, so I'd rather not mess with installing anything I don't have to. > As to > running your current laptop drive in an external case, yes, you can do that > and it words well. The problem is that my current laptop may or may not re-boot once I power it off. That's why it's been on the desk for a couple of years now. LOL I might copy my install to a new drive and tinker with that. > you probably won't be able to run it in > a VMWare session directly, you would have to image it first and VMWare > supplies a tool to do this. I was pretty sure that the VMWare option might be more tricky than other options, thanks. > Another thing to consider is if your company considers anything done on > it's hardware it's property.
