I'm disappointed to see something like this happen. It is intolerance in the name of tolerance. A tolerant community does not waste time grandstanding without understanding. The word 'bigot' was thrown around - which means a person who strongly and unfairly dislikes other people, ideas, etc. It seems many of the community are intolerant to anyone who would use a gendered pronoun - i.e bigots. Should gendered pronouns be used in documentation? Maybe not. Should a community member be shunned after a misunderstanding? Definitely not - that would be intolerant.
