"The law of supply and demand ultimately catches up, and now the computer

There is a LOT of work if you have really good "Citrix" skills. If I worked
40 hours a day, I couldn't keep up with the offers for work. I just raised
my billing rate 67% and I haven't lost any business. I have also
accumulated 52 Citrix certs since 2004 but, other than Citrix partners who
have to have them, not a single customer has asked me if I am certified (in
anything).

Thanks

I've been in the computer field for nearly 50 years. Before there were
"certs", there was a general shortage of computer people, not to mention
"experienced" people. Back then, I had friends changing jobs every 3 to 6
months to get very nice pay increases. The law of supply and demand
ultimately catches up, and now the computer field is somewhat over crowded.
So, you have a choice. Do you want to make more money, or do you want to
enjoy your job? Titles are meaningless anyway. Studies have confirmed that
most people don't consider themselves underpaid until they stop enjoying
their job. In talking to friends, relatives and co-workers, the great
majority would quit their job if they won the lottery or inherited a
fortune. Nuff said!
