I'm glad nothing untoward had happened but I'm afraid I am not
surprised by ADT's inefficency. On Friday afternoon my husband phoned
me to tell me ADT had phoned him at work to say the alarm had gone
off. They said they had sent someone round but could only do a front
perimeter inspection and everything seemed fine. I was at the park
with our children and we needed to go home so I phoned ADT's emergency
response and asked them to send someone to escort me into the house.
They still haven't arrived.

On reaching home but before going in, I phoned Vetus Schola on the
number I was given to call them. (I have had very good service from
them in the past.) But it just said the subscriber you have dialled is
not available. Luckily my neighbours include some burly young men who
I asked to escort me into the house. Luckily nothing was wrong. I
suspect the wind blowing through an open window triggered the alarm.
Like Jonathan, my husband was also racing home from work in a panic,
fearing the worst.

In this case it was all a "false alarm" but what if my children and I
were in danger what would ADT and Vetus Schola be saying now? What is
the use of alarms and panic buttons and contracts with private
security companies if they can not assist you in your time of need?

Very worried in Observatory.
