Yup. I would hope that the ed board does work to set *some* policies and guidelines in the areas of site style and branding, site navigation, and other high level things, rather than leaving them up to random or chaotic distributed invention. In the case that spawned this discussion, things would have been different if there were an email trail that showed that some discussion and deliberation had taken place, and that some sort of community decision had been reached. It almost wouldn't have mattered what that decision was; the fact that it happened out in the community, and involved the right set of responsible people would have made all the difference. -John
