First off hello everyone. I'm not a game designer/publisher just a
player/GM lurking on this list to see what's going on with this and
perhaps get a heads up on the new products. Dreams of writing some
adventures up dance in my head...

I read the license and all of the comments so far about the WotC owning
the license and that they require prior written consent of the copyright
holder before using it. Owning the license is understandable someone has
to.

I think what gets people is why do they have to have permission to use the
license? Other open licenses I have seen (true they are for software) as
far as I can recall don't require prior consent before use.

Perhaps the license is missing a section like how to go about getting
permission and the entire process. What is it by the way?

I for one thing hope that the process will be a simple one and also one
that can't get easily backed up.

I can imagine a lot of people will want to put stuff out (just look in the
news groups) and have it be under this license. Imagine if your an author
(and wanting to make money) trying to get permission and you have to wait
in line because thousands of net geeks have put in for permission to use
the license for their "One-eyed thirteen toed fire toad".
