SRD are only released in english. You are free to translate all released SRD into french and use it in your work. > 2. If I decide to publish material derivative of the SRD, since there is no French > SRD, how can I know the official translation of a game term? First of all, there's not one official translation (every translation of the SRD is legal). But I would advice you to use the glossary of terms that was used in the french Core Rulebooks. It's much easier for the gamers. You have to ask for the glossary of terms to the publishing house that owns the licence of french D&D. They are not obliged to give it to you, but surely, they will. > What happens if I use a translation in French of a game term (that I belive is > the right translation of the term) but which is not the one published in the > French translation of the books? Nothing. As I said, there's not one official transaltion. But if you use different terms, fans will have problems in identifying the terms. > 3. Could I use something that is in the (English) SRD, but is not yet translated > into French? Certainly. > What happens if I translate a term differently than the way it will be translated > in the French translation of the book? The only problem will be the discordance of terms for the fans (you do not face any legal problems). And that has already happened in France with Asmodee/Siroz publishing some adventures before the Core Rulebooks went out (and they are still alive) ;-). > Sorry if I've not been perfectly clear, what I mean is already difficult to explain > in my mother tongue, but in English... If you have problems with english (wich doesn't seem to be the case), you can ask me privately ( [EMAIL PROTECTED] ). I can handle with french, and I also have a website explaining some of the misteries of the licenses. I'm also form a english non-speaking country, so I've already faced these problems ;-) Miguel Garcia _______________________________________________ Ogf-l mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.opengamingfoundation.org/mailman/listinfo/ogf-l
